There is absolutely no way around it. You can do a set of sensible ab routines every day for a year and yet you will not be able to show your abs off if your middle section is covered by a layer of flat. Your abs, especially your lower abs, will be like pearls inside an oyster with the shell closed firmly.

As a general rule of thumb your body fat needs to be less than 10% before you are able to show those rippling abs, and only then if you have done the appropriate ab exercises.
