Lactose intolerance is caused by not being able to create enough of the enzyme that breaks down lactose. The lactose sits in the gut and produces gas and hence bloating.

Stomach bloating can be cause by irritable bowel syndrome. Irritable bowel syndrome forms a group of symptoms. The most common symptoms of I.B.S. are :-

Diarrhoea.

Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional disorder. The bowel doesn't function as it should. It is believed that I.B.S is due to an over-sensitive bowel. If you think you have I.B.S it is best to consult a doctor.
